British Home Secretary Priti Patel has launched a new points-based immigration system on 19th January 2020. The home secretary announced this by mentioning that this is a historic moment for the United Kingdom and added that this aims to open up the best of the skilled worker from around the world to enter the United Kingdom.
Britain is the fourth country with Australia, Canada and New Zealand to introduce the Points-based immigration system.
The new system will come in to place from 1st January 2021. It will assign points for specific skills, qualifications, salaries or professions and visas will only be awarded to those have gained enough points. The points will be considered for various factors like having a job offer letter, ability to speak in English and “A Level” or equivalent qualification.
This will help students from India who want to settle in the United Kingdom by working and gaining international experience after completing their higher studies.
In September 2019, Britain had announced that students who are studying in the UK will be able to apply for a post-study work visa. This means that people with Post Study Work permit will then be able to switch into another part of the points system as soon as they complete their higher education in the United Kingdom. Post-Brexit, this move was expected by the British Government. Focus Education highly anticipated that this system will be introduced by the British Government somewhere in January / February 2021.
We are a British Council Certified Agent and established in the UK. Focus Education enrolled students for various courses and secured 100% UK Student Visa success ratio in the September 2019 and January 2020 intakes. These students have travelled to the UK on a student visa and are currently studying in TEF Gold and Silver-rated universities with or without IELTS. Some of these students were awarded scholarships up to £5000.
This is a golden opportunity as this point-based immigration system will open doors for opportunities and one can avail its benefits through the student visa route.
